I recently received and began testing of the Tactical DUOSTOCK, which is a replacement buttstock for all AR-15’s with a collapsible stock. I fitted the DUOSTOCK on one of our Colt A-3 rifles for purposes of this testing. The quality of construction is excellent. I did have a slight problem getting the DUOSTOCK to slide onto the buffer tube, but this was addressed in the installation instructions. I little bit of sanding with 100-150 grit sandpaper made the fit perfect. The DUOSTOCK has openings for a sling and operates the same as the factory stock. I have thoroughly enjoyed using the DUOSTOCK. The design is such that you have much better stock fit to your body armor whether you are at a “low ready” or in an active shooting platform. This increases a user’s confidence and control of the weapon at all times. We teach a Modified Isosceles stance to our shooters and this design allows users to center the weapon much easier.

The Duo-Stock is a very handy piece of equipment. It took a little getting used to, but after that I liked it.
It was a little tight on the buffer tube upon initial installation, but it loosened up fairly quickly. The construction of the product seemed good and it should be very durable.
I found that the stock greatly increased shouldering of the weapon when wearing a bulky Tac-vest. The stock also helped to push the weapon up and toward your face making it easier for you get a good cheek to stock weld. Sighting of the weapon with both iron sights and optics, were quicker than with a conventional stock. The design of the stock also kept more surface area in contact with the vest, making it easier to keep shouldered.
The stock did slide around a little bit when shouldered. The hard plastic; even though it is checkered, moves around on the vest. I would like to see a rubber butt-pad be designed for the stock. This will allow it to “stick” better to your vest when shouldering. The only other small issue with the stock is that it adds some size to the weapon when it’s time to put it in a zip-up case. This made it a little hard to close the case, but that is a negligible issue.
Overall I felt that the Duo-Stock performed well and I would recommend its use to anyone.

I have tested the Tactical Duostock from Duostock designs Inc. When I first opened the box I was a bit taken aback on the looks of the stock. I then put the stock on one of our departments AR-15’s. I shot the weapon with the stock on and I started to appreciate the design of the stock. The stock design enabled me to have a better check weld while shooting the AR. I felt I had better control of the rifle during shooting sessions. The stock seemed to be well made and fitted well on the AR-15’s I tried it on.

An item like this should have been one of the first things ever changed about the stock systems of the M-16 carbine family of weaponry.
I attached the Duostock to my Bushmaster carbine without any trouble whatsoever. Procedures do not change in putting on, or removing the Duostock. The instructions state that the buffer tube may stick to the Duostock when you first try to install it and give two remedies for this: gun oil first and if that doesn't work, lightly sandpapering the interior of the Duostock attachment hole so that it fits properly.
There is no grading system for looks and man, this thing is ugly! However, looks really don't matter in this case, as this stock is exactly what has been needed for CQB and for use with tactical body armor. If this item doesn't take off in LE circles, I have no doubt it will be highly popular with the military in the sandbox.
The curved portion of the buttstock allows the rifle to be held at low-ready, yet still maintaining contact with your body (on your vest). Bringing the sights up to your vision needs nothing more than a lifting motion; all the while, the buttstock stays seated on your armor and rolls the sights right up into your view. There is no having to tuck the stock back in because it lost its point of contact: it never left. This cuts down time in getting on target and with a few practice sessions, is VERY smooth. There is no doubt in my mind that Duostock has improved on the collapsible stock for the M-16 carbines.
I gave the Duostock a workout at one of our SWAT ranges and also let several guys from our team try it out as well. I had no difficulty with the stock getting hung up on any other gear, transitions were smooth and I was quicker on target than teammates using factory collapsible. All of the comments from my team were very positive and a couple wanted to know where to get one.
As the saying goes, Duostock is available in an assortment of colors, as long as you like black. It appears that the stock would take a layer of Krylon without difficulty if you want to blend in a little better.
